Thiensville,
an attractive, self-governed village just one square mile in size, is
located in the heart of the city of Mequon. Although the Village was
officially incorporated in 1910, its settlement began in the 1840’s and
has developed into a picturesque community adjacent to the Milwaukee
River. In 1842 Jochim Heinrich Thien settled in the area
and bought 148 acres, built a mill and thus "Thiensville" was born
The
site of many
historical buildings,
Thiensville is a community rooted in tradition with a vision for the
future. Known as the "mile of smiles", Thiensville is home to about 3400
residents. It has a predominately small town suburban residential
character with a high quality of life created by well maintained homes,
condos and apartments.
The Village has a beautiful park on the Milwaukee River which
annually hosts
"Family Fun Before the Fourth"
event, a day of fun for the whole family held on the Saturday before the
Fourth of July. This event which begins in the morning with a parade and
ends with the traditional fireworks display is the highlight of
everyone's summer. A
Farmer’s Market
is held every Tuesday from May to October where you can purchase fresh
produce and flowers from area growers.
